A case designed to hold bottles of wine or liquor, the cellaret, like the sideboard, was an essential piece of furniture in fashionable dining rooms of the early nineteenth century. Frequently, the cellaret would stand in an opening at the center of the sideboard and be wheeled up to the table for meals.
