Terracotta bowl

This type of bowl is the most popular shape in this ware and has been found at numerous sites around the eastern Mediterranean. It is usually called a "milk bowl," although the exact purpose of these containers is unknown. Since they could not be sealed, the presumably were not exported for their contents and may have been popular for aesthetic reasons or because their hard and impermeable surfaces made them suitable containers for hot liquids.
