Celery vase
Bakewell, Page & Bakewell|Bakewell, Page & Bakewells
1820–30 · Blown and cut glass · The American Wing

The cut decoration on this vase and on the nearby decanter and compote is a variation on the strawberry diamond-and-fan pattern, the most popular cut-glass pattern in the United States in the early nineteenth century. All of these pieces emulate the richly cut tableware of the Anglo-Irish tradition.
