Vase
Rozenburg Plateelfabriek|T.A.C. Colenbrander
1888 · Lead-glazed earthenware · European Sculpture and Decorative Arts

Spooky faces and spiky foliage decorate this tall vase. Hired to make Delftware tiles at the Rozenburg factory, Colenbrander radically changed its output. His quirky designs drew upon Iznik floral motifs. The gridded pattern recalls his early training in architecture.
