Low Art Tile Works, one of the most successful tile manufacturers of the late nineteenth century, supplied decorative tiles used in fireplace surrounds, bathrooms, stoves, and soda fountains, as well as in smaller objects such as inkstands, candlesticks, trivets, and mantel clocks. This clock model, titled Albatross, features an asymmetrical leaf-and-insect design in the Japanesque manner and was offered in different glazes, including olive green, deep blue, and mustard yellow.
