This work is one of four, rare turret-top card tables that retain their original needlework surfaces. Related examples reside in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Pilgrim Society in Plymouth, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston-Bayou Bend. The Bayou Bend table closely relates to this table in the similarity of the floral bouquet crewelwork design as well as the formation of their slender legs, knee brackets, and checkered stringing. These tables were likely made as a pair and both descended in the Faneuil family of Boston.
