Memorial to Metcalf and Samuel Bowler — Miss Balch's Boarding and Day School|Amy Harris Bowler

This memorial is typical of those worked at Mary Balch’s School in the early nineteenth century. The silken willow leaves were skillfully shaded to create a shimmering effect, and the inscriptions were embroidered in the finest black silk. It was likely executed by Amy Harris Bowler in memory of her grandfather, Metcalf, and father, Samuel.
