This frame is an example of the "fancy goods" that were among Tiffany's more affordable merchandise. The "Etched Metal and Glass" desk set in the grapevine and pine-needle patterns creates an effect similar to that of stained-glass windows. In addition to the typical patinated green and brown finishes, a slightly more expensive gold-plated finish, seen here, was available. These pristine examples descended in the family of Tiffany Studios' last bookkeeper and were carefully stored and never used. (see 1990.314.2a, b; .4a, b; .8; .10b)
