Coffeepot — Lenox, Incorporated

These are probably the hand-painted prototypes for a coffeepot and sugar bowl (1989.263.2) produced as part of a breakfast set. The overglaze decoration, characterized by elongated, whiplash-curved stems, is a rare instance of the Art Nouveau style in American ceramics. The coffeepot’s lid is a reconstruction based on the original design drawing in the Lenox archives.
