Vase with sunflowers — Rozenburg Plateelfabriek

The Rozenburg factory returned to naturalistic forms following the 1888 departure of Theodore Colenbrander, who had reveled in the expressive freedom of abstract patterns. While large friendly sunflowers decorate the bottom of the vase, the green leaves at the neck morph into distorted shapes that are reminiscent of Colenbrander’s vision.
