Candlestick
Henry Whitney|New England Glass Company
1870–75 · Pressed glass · The American Wing

This candlestick, whose design was patented in 1870, has as its shaft a caryatid, a Renaissance Revival motif. Although other glass manufacturers used the caryatid motif, the New England Glass Company was unique in combining it with other elements in a single mold.
