Chimneypiece in the Louis XVI style with gilt-bronze egg-and-dart moulding under shaped marble top surmounting the frieze set with gilt-bronze scrolling trails of roses tied in the center with a ribbon. The two rounded projecting ends of the frieze are set with gilt-bronze wreaths of roses tied with ribbon knots. Under these projections, the two uprights are each fitted with a patinated bronze term of a partially draped infant crowned with wreaths of oak leaves and acorns. These figures are supported on tapering fluted marble pilasters, their flutings filled with gilt-bronze chandelles, resting on rectangular marble plinths, the tops of which are set with gilt-bronze beribboned laurel-leaf-and-berry mouldings. The fireplace opening is trimmed at the top and sides with gilt-bronze leaf mouldings.
